At the same time, the rated power of the engine does not exceed 3 kilowatts
therefore, a driver's license is not required to ride this electric bike in Ukraine.
If you do not need such power and high torque, for example,
now you are just learning to ride, or you prefer a quiet ride,
then this is not a problem.
Power, torque, the response of an electric bike to the throttle stick, and much more
can be independently adjusted within wide limits using a computer.
You can even achieve that the start and acceleration will be
smoother than the weakest 800W CityCoco.

Now we'll show you what you pay for when you order
the 2020 CityCoco Long Range, redesigned by RIDE.
Engine. We used a motor made by the best electric motor company
in the Chinese market, QS Motors.
Its real rated power is 3 kilowatts,
but it has a significant power reserve.
We wanted to use a similar engine in electric CityCoco earlier
but qs motors does not make engines suitable for the size,
so we had to order the production of a special rim,
where the engine itself is mounted.
The wide aluminum rim improved the heat dissipation of the engine,
which made it possible to deliver up to 20 kilowatts of power at the time of acceleration.
Please note, although this is a wheel motor and there is no gearbox in it
this motor has a very high torque starting from the lowest rpm.
Controller. For such a powerful and high-quality engine,
an appropriate controller is also needed.
We used a controller of the American brand Kelly, model KLS 7230
This is a very reliable sinusoidal controller
with high efficiency programmable for many individual settings.
The manufacturer claims up to 300 amperes of phase current,
but according to our measurements, the peak phase current exceeds 420 amperes.
The battery current can be set the same as the phase current,
but we stopped at 270 amperes to save battery life
With an operating voltage of 77.7V batteries (build 21S),
this gave more than 20 kilowatts of power, which is more than enough for the Citycoco form factor.
Speedometer. Since Kelly's controllers do not work with traditional cheap speedometers
we had to use the 750C branded programmable on-board computer.
It has a large color display that shows not only speed and total mileage,
but also power consumption in watts per hour.
A wattmeter will allow you to roughly calculate
how much you will travel under certain driving conditions.
The speedometer is finally showing correctly
and can be calibrated in the display menu.
Batteries.
In the minimum configuration, you can buy CityCoco Long Range
with standard sixty volt batteries, which we use in other models,
but the maximum speed will be 52 km/h, and the power is up to 14 kw
To raise the maximum speed to almost 70 km/h, and the power up to 20 kw,
we make batteries using higher-current cells, and a voltage of 77.7 Volts instead of the standard 60 Volts.
High efficiency and reliability of electronics.
The engine from qs motors, has a high efficiency
not only at high speeds, as usual CityCoco motors, but also at low ones
you can see some of the models attached here that can be modified.
This provides significantly higher mileage in urban mode with constant acceleration,
or when driving off-road.
When driving in a straight line,
the mileage has increased by more than 10%
Using two batteries with a total capacity of 77.7v 54ah, you can drive up to 230 km at a speed of 35 km/h
or up to 160 km at a speed of 55 km/h.
In CityCoco scooters sold by us, the controllers can sometimes break,
even though we put protection against overheating.
The probability of such a problem is about 1 in 200,
and of course, we are changing the controller under warranty,
but still it is not very pleasant.
If your scooter has Kelly's controller, it can't be broken without reason.
You can damage it only with incorrect programming
The controller connectors are of significantly better quality you will not loose any contact.
And the phase wires are finally of sufficient thickness and not only do not burn,
but do not even heat up.
Buying a new Long Range version with a Kelly controller and qs motors,
you can not be afraid that one day it will stop driving for no reason.
There are also changes in the mechanical part and attachments.
The footrest is now with a sensor and you cannot drive away until you remove it.
The fenders are visually the same, but on each bike we strengthen them,
now they do not crack, but only break in pieces, in the case of relatively strong blows.
After 3 months of rigorous testing, nothing happened to the
so we decided to leave the standard Chinese frame
If you want a stronger frame, we can make it ourselves,
but this will significantly affect the final price and significantly increase the assembly time.
Everything else is the same as on the previous 2019 Long Range.
The front shock absorbers are spring-oil,
the rear are full-fledged gas shock absorbers with the .possibility of pumping.
The driver's seat is the softest of all CityCoco models
The lighting fixtures are also the brightest and can be clearly seen even on a sunny day.
Both batteries are removable.
There is a luggage compartment under the passenger seat that can be locked.
And most importantly, what the owners of CityCoco with 12-inch rims
have been waiting for are low-profile off-road tires
Now the CityCoco with alloy wheels can be driven on any off-road and snow.
It was very difficult for us to get these tires,
because they are not on sale in China, and we ordered their production at a European factory.

The only thing that was not told in this article
is how to adjust the smooth start.
For the sharpest start, set the values circled in red to maximum.
Conversely, in order for the start to be smooth and the torque to increase as the speed rises,
reduce the values.
It is recommended to change them proportionally,
if the first value changes by 1000 units, then the second by 100, and the third by 500.
